Christians Against Poverty (CAP) has appointed its vice chair Lisa Pearce as interim chief executive.
She replaces Paula Stringer who is leaving the charity sector to work for the BBC.
Pearce has been a trustee at CAP for nine years and joins as the charity’s interim boss from Christian human rights charity Open Door International, where she is chief development and advocacy officer. She was previously the chief executive of Open Doors UK and Ireland and has also worked for Reuters and Virgin Media.
She will remain as CEO of CAP until December and will work with the board on recruiting a permanent replacement for Stringer.
“We are very sad to see Paula leave, but incredibly pleased that Lisa will be taking on the Interim CEO role,” said the charity’s chair Roger Hattam.
“Her knowledge of CAP, combined with her experience in business development with organisations such as Virgin Media and Reuters, will provide continuity as well as a strong focus."
He added: “Having made changes to our staffing structures earlier this year, the senior leadership team is now focused on delivering new service developments, fundraising and church engagement campaigns, and are looking forward to welcoming Lisa.”
Pearce added: “I am looking forward to ensuring we find the next permanent CEO who will continue to grow and expand CAP’s vision.”
Stringer, who leaves after five years at CAP said that her new role at the BBC takes her “closer to home and will give me more time for my family commitments”.
